2003–2016 · Registered, never built

The archive’s first captures, in 2003, are a 404; a 2006 request for a stray path is another. From 2010 to 2016 the homepage was Bluehost’s default “Web Hosting — courtesy of www.bluehost.com” page: someone held the name and a hosting account and put nothing on it.

2018–2021 · Lost Articles, India

By January 2018 the domain ran a Drupal 7 site titled “Lost Articles, India”: “an online initiative for the recovery of ‘lost’ and intimation of ‘found’ person, pets or personal belongings.” Anyone could report an item they had lost or found; anyone who recognised it could get in touch. The site compared a report to the First Information Report you would file at an Indian police station, with “lostarticles” acting as “a policing agent”. It had an About page, a Success Story page, a help section of a dozen questions, a disclaimer, and a Facebook page. The homepage was unchanged when last captured working in December 2021.

2022–2025 · Fading out

In early 2022 the homepage came back blank while the archive still caught its stylesheets and logos — the site was failing, not yet gone. Captures in December 2024 and February 2025 returned nothing and a gateway timeout.

2025–2026 · A hijacked template

From October 2025 to the last capture in March 2026 the domain served a Chinese-language clone of a Jinan surveying and mapping company’s website — engineering monitoring, cadastral surveys, geographic information — with the company name replaced throughout by an online-gambling brand, and about thirty pages under a random prefix. It had nothing to do with lost property.

2026 · A new owner

The domain was registered afresh on October 24, 2026 by its current owner, who has no connection to the 2018 project or any other occupant. This site documents what was here, redirects every old address to the page that describes it, and does not take lost-or-found reports.
